New Regulations On Online Casino Advertising In The UK.

The United Kingdom is formulating new advertising rules for the online casino gambling industry. The Advertising Standards Authority and Gambling Commission are working together to come up with an accepted agreement for online casino advertising. They have begun working together to draft a new regulations regarding how online casinos advertise in the UK. The draft is expected to be released in the summer and the online casino industry is anxious to see the outcome of the new proposals. The new online casino advertising bill is expected to be released to coincide with the enactment of the Gambling Act in September 2007. The new set of rules would affect online casino and gaming sites, bingo halls and sports betting services.

The new rule formulation aims to allow the online casino industry a solid structure on which they can base their advertising decision. Up until recently, there were many questions about the legality of online casino advertising and many gambling companies were not sure where and how they could advertise. These rules will make it very clear where they can advertise. A spokesperson for the ASA said that new mediums will be opened up to the online casino industry including television. It is expected that foreign based online casinos will not be allowed to advertise in the UK once these laws are passed.

The current laws that apply to gambling advertising are 40 years old and many people are in agreement that these laws need an update. The Gambling Commission has stated that an online casino seeking a license will have to agree to the new advertising laws. The current gambling laws are very restrictive, especially to online casino sites, so the new laws are expected to be met with enthusiasm by online gaming industry.
